We have collected the most common questions about HexxPDF tools, privacy, file processing, performance, and the PDF editing workflow.

General usage

Basic topics to know before you start using HexxPDF.

  • Is HexxPDF free?

You can use the basic PDF merge, split, rotate, delete pages, reorder, and conversion tools in HexxPDF without creating an account. In some operations, the experience may vary depending on file size, device performance, and browser capacity. If advanced features are added in the future, they may be evaluated separately from the basic tools.

  • Do I need to create an account to use HexxPDF?

No. You do not need to provide an email address, create an account, or sign in to use HexxPDF tools. After choosing your file and setting the required options, you can download the new output directly to your device. This structure focuses on completing everyday PDF tasks quickly and simply.

  • Which PDF tasks is HexxPDF suitable for?

HexxPDF offers practical tools designed for everyday PDF tasks. It can be used for merging PDFs, splitting files, deleting pages, reordering pages, rotating pages, adding watermarks, creating PDFs from images, and converting PDF pages to images. More specialized tasks such as text editing, advanced OCR, or electronic signature validation may require different software.

  • Do I need to install HexxPDF on my computer?

No. HexxPDF works through a web browser, so you do not need to install a separate program on your computer. Opening the site and selecting the relevant PDF tool is enough. Using an up-to-date browser helps provide a more stable experience, especially with larger files.

  • Does HexxPDF work on mobile devices?

Yes, HexxPDF can also be used in phone and tablet browsers. However, for very large PDF files or high-resolution conversion tasks, a desktop browser may provide faster and more stable results. On mobile, avoid closing the tab during processing and check that the output was saved correctly after downloading.

  • What is the difference between the tools on the home page and the guide pages?

Tool pages are designed so you can perform an action directly. Guide pages explain when to use each tool, how browser-based file processing works, and what to consider when editing PDFs. If you want to perform a task immediately, open the tool page; if you want to decide first, read the relevant guide.

Privacy and file processing

How your files are processed, where they are handled, and what to consider with sensitive documents.

  • Are my uploaded documents stored on servers?

Supported operations in HexxPDF are prepared in the browser. Your file content is processed in your device memory without being uploaded to the server for the operation, and when the task is complete you download the output to your device. For sensitive documents, we strongly recommend checking the output file before sharing it.

  • Is my file content sent to third parties?

In supported PDF operations, file content is handled in the browser without being uploaded to the server for processing. A network connection is used to open the site, load interface files, and receive the required processing code; this does not mean your PDF content is sent to third parties. If you use a corporate network or security software, you should also consider your company's IT policies.

  • Is my file permanently saved after processing?

HexxPDF tools create a new output file after processing, and you download that output to your device. Since the process takes place in your browser session, you are responsible for saving the file yourself. Before closing the tab, make sure you have downloaded the output and saved it in the correct folder.

  • What should I consider with sensitive documents?

For sensitive documents such as identity, health, finance, or contract files, check the file content before sharing the output. If you used a shared computer, close the browser tab, check the downloads folder, and remove unnecessary copies. When sharing by email or messaging, make sure you selected the correct recipient.

  • Does adding a watermark make a document secure?

No. A watermark is a visible warning or marking layer on the document; it does not encrypt the file or technically restrict access. Marks such as "Draft", "Confidential", or a company name can be useful to indicate document status before distribution, but real access control requires separate security solutions.

  • What does processing in the browser mean for security?

Processing in the browser means that, for supported operations, file content is prepared in your device memory. This approach does not require the file to be uploaded to a remote server for the operation. Still, it is important to use an up-to-date browser, work on a trusted network, and control physical access to your device.

File size and performance

Large files, browser memory, device performance, and tips for a more stable experience.

  • Why can processing be slower with large PDF files?

PDF operations run through the browser and device memory, so speed can vary depending on page count, file size, image density, device RAM, and CPU power. Documents with many pages or high-resolution content may take longer to process. In these cases, deleting unnecessary pages first or splitting the file into smaller parts can provide a smoother experience.

  • Is there a file size limit in HexxPDF?

It would not be accurate to describe a fixed limit that guarantees the same experience for every file in HexxPDF. Operations run with the resources of your device and browser. With large files, browser memory may approach its limits, so working with smaller parts can be a safer method for very large documents.

  • Which browsers work best?

Current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge generally provide better results. Older browsers may not support some modern web features, or operations may run more slowly. For a more stable experience, keep your browser up to date and avoid leaving many heavy tabs open at the same time.

  • What happens if I close the tab during processing?

If you close the tab or refresh the page before the operation is complete, you may lose an output that has not been downloaded yet. Because browser-based operations run within the session, it is important to keep the tab open until the process finishes. Closing other heavy tabs during long operations can also help.

  • Why can PDF to image conversion use more memory?

Converting PDF pages to images such as PNG, JPG, or WebP means turning pages into pixel-based outputs. As the selected resolution increases, file size and memory usage can also increase. Especially with documents that have many pages, testing with a few pages first gives you more controlled results.

  • What can I do for more stable processing?

First, use an up-to-date browser and close unnecessary tabs during processing. For large PDF files, reducing the file with delete pages or split tools can be a good starting point. Do not close the tab before the operation is complete, and after downloading the output, open the file to check it.

PDF tools

Practical explanations about merge, split, delete pages, reorder, rotate, and watermark tools.

  • When should I use Merge PDF?

Merge PDF is used when you want to collect multiple PDF files into a single document. It is suitable for sending contract attachments, invoice packs, report sections, or presentation notes as one file. Before merging, checking the file order and reviewing the first and last pages of the output is a good habit.

  • What is the difference between Split PDF and Delete Pages?

Split PDF helps you extract selected pages or page ranges as a separate file. Delete Pages removes the pages you do not want and creates a new PDF from the remaining pages. In short, splitting is better when you want to separate and keep certain pages; deleting is better when you want to clean unnecessary pages from a document.

  • What does the Reorder Pages tool do?

The Reorder Pages tool lets you rearrange the flow of pages inside a PDF. It can be used to place scanned documents in the correct order, rearrange presentation slides, or move attachments to the right position in a document. After reordering, it is important to open the output and check the page flow.

  • When should I use the Rotate PDF tool?

The Rotate PDF tool is used to fix pages that are sideways or upside down. It is useful for scanned documents, pages captured by phone, or slides saved in the wrong orientation. Instead of rotating the whole document, targeting only selected pages often gives a more accurate result.

  • What should I consider when adding a watermark?

When adding a watermark, make sure the text or image does not make the document hard to read. Marks such as draft, confidential, approved, or a brand label can be used to indicate the document status. Before sharing, check that the watermark was applied to the correct pages and that the content remains readable.

  • What should I do if I am not sure which tool to choose?

First, clarify the result you want: do you want to merge files, extract specific pages, delete unnecessary pages, or change the output format? If you are not sure, you can read the "Which PDF tool should you use and when?" guide. The guide matches common scenarios with the right tools.

Conversion and quality

Common questions about converting PDF to image, image to PDF, and output quality.

  • What determines quality when creating PDF from images?

When creating a PDF from images, quality depends largely on the clarity, resolution, and page placement of the source image. A blurry or low-resolution image will not become clearer when placed inside a PDF. Especially with document photos, lighting, framing, and readability directly affect the final file.

  • Does text remain selectable when exporting PDF to image?

When you export PDF pages as images, the pages become pixel-based image files. This means text usually does not remain selectable or copyable. If the text needs to stay selectable, it is better to use tools that work directly on the PDF instead of converting it to an image.

  • How should I choose between PNG, JPG, and WebP?

PNG is usually better for sharp text and images that require transparency. JPG can provide smaller file sizes for photo-heavy pages. WebP offers good compression in modern browsers, but you should consider whether the recipient's system supports WebP.

  • Why does file size change after conversion?

Conversion can affect the structure of the source file, the output format, resolution, and compression level. When converting PDF to image, each page may become a separate image file; when creating PDF from images, the images are packaged inside a single document. For this reason, the output file can be smaller or larger than the source file.

  • Is the PDF output good enough for printing?

Print quality depends on the resolution of the source file, page size, and conversion settings. An output that looks fine on the web may appear lower quality in print. Before using a file for printing, check it at the target paper size and, if needed, use a higher-resolution source.

  • Will text be searchable in a PDF created from images?

When you create a PDF from image files, the pages usually remain image-based. This does not mean the text automatically becomes searchable or selectable. If searchable text is required, an OCR-supported process or a different tool may be needed.

Troubleshooting

What to check when a file does not open, a process does not finish, or the output looks unexpected.

  • What should I do if an encrypted PDF file does not open?

Encrypted PDF files may need to be unlocked with proper authorization before they can be opened in some tools. If you do not know the file password or the document does not belong to you, you should not try to process it. If you have permission, you may need to open the file in a suitable PDF reader, export it, or remove the protection.

  • Why might a damaged PDF file not be processed?

A PDF file may have been downloaded incompletely, damaged during transfer, or created in a non-standard way. Such files may not be read as expected in some browser-based tools. You can try opening the file in another PDF reader, downloading it again, or exporting it again from the source program if possible.

  • What should I do if the process does not finish?

First, leave the browser tab open for a while; with large files, the process may briefly appear frozen. If there is no progress for a long time, consider reducing the file size, deleting unnecessary pages, or trying a different up-to-date browser. Before refreshing the page, make sure you still have the original file safely available.

  • What should I do if the downloaded file does not look as expected?

First, open the file in another PDF reader or browser to check it. If the page order, orientation, watermark, or output format is wrong, review the options you selected before running the process again. For critical documents, it is always important to keep the original file.

  • What should I check if the tool page opens but I cannot choose a file?

Check whether a browser permission or extension is blocking the file picker window. Private browsing, ad blockers, or security extensions can affect some file selection behaviors. Trying a different up-to-date browser or refreshing the page often solves the issue.

  • How can I contact you if I need help?

If you cannot find the answer you need in the FAQ or guides, you can contact us through the contact page. When describing the issue, include the tool you used, the file type, your browser, and any error message you saw so we can understand the problem faster.
